Banksy Returns to Glasgow

20.06.23

“Most artists have an obsession that defines their work. Monet had light, Hockney has colour, I’ve got police response time.”
Banksy

Banksy has announced his first official solo exhibition for 14 years. Cut and Run, which features behind-the-scenes work spanning the artists’ entire career, opened at the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) last Sunday. Luckily, with one half of Moniker Projects residing in the city, we were able to make it along for the opening day.

The latest show aims to reveal the process of how his works are made, with original sketches on display as well as the stencils, which have been painted to give a new lease of life. Iconic works featured include Kissing Coppers, Love is in the Air, Girl with Balloon and No Ball Games. The exhibition also features installations from his time in New York, Western Super Mare, and most recently, Kiev.

The initial run of tickets sold-out within a few days, but more will be sporadically released throughout the exhibitions 3-month run, and will be available to book via the Cut and Run website.
